Woodrow Wilson Senior High School Reviews

It is a shame that Wilson high has such a beautiful campus yet students are trashing the school everywhere. Many students have no decency nor morals. They often get away with things because the school does not enforce consequence for student's actions. Kids are slacking off & scores are falling! I see

Wilson high school has some of the best teachers and students, yet also has some of the worst of both. Wilson has a great history and significance, which is why so many return to teach or visit. Since the change in administration, Wilson is now heading down the drain as they are planning block schedule with an acceelerated program with much opposition from both students and teachers, and adults. This is also a great disadvantage for students who wish to take 3 APs as it limts them to taking only one available class which may need to be a year round course such as leadership, yearbook, or AVID. If you are a parent with a child who is hoping to exel and go onto a college or universtiy, I strongly advise that you send your child elsewhere.

The success of students at Wilson is relative to the amout of support students receive both at home and at school. Students who have a place to study at home and parents who check up on them have a better chance of succeeding. With faculty and administration, its a hit or miss. They don't properly understand the underlying factors that contribute to student success. Instead of detention, students should be made to attend events at the college corner--we all know jails don't work, its the same concept with punishment at school. I don't think Wilson adequately prepared me for the academic challenges I faced in college. I was able to attend one of nations top liberal arts college--all Wilson did was teach me things, it didf not teach me how to think about things. A very big distinction. As a parent be involved and make sure you challenge your child.

I am a student here in wilson high... Some teachers here are good and some are not... But I would say that most teachers here are good... However, students have less discipline...

Im a student here and all I can judge about the school is the students that go to it...honestly the school Is amazing the teachers, the activities I really like wilson. But the thing is many students do not behave apropriately thats one reasons why many teachers arent able to teach because the students dont allow them.

Has plenty of academic programs to meet the needs of the students. Advanced Placement courses are open to any student who wants to be challenged. Great sport programs. Lack of parent involvement, support and student motivation to learn are some of the major problems.

All i want to say is that it is a very rewarding school with wonderful caring teachers & the school also possesses ample resources such as well-intentioned counselors for current studens as well as college-bound ones. The Sports program is also an excellent extra-curricular choice that keeps students sharp due to the expertise of the coaching staffs. I would highlu recommend my former alma mater to any student seeking a strong foundation for college/real world.

Wilson High School has been bombarded by some bad press over the last 4 or 5 years. The test scores were not indicative of how the school was progressing and how capable the teachers/staff and faculty were. The school was once a spring-board for administrators moving up and moving out. With a new administration and a hard working staff committed to the community and the students, Wilson will continue to shine! A high percentage of the faculty members are Wilson Alumni with strong ties to the students and the communities of El Sereno, City Terrace, and Boyle Heights. Come and see for yourself how the school has changed for the better. Our Law and Justice Magnet is outstanding as well as our as our Police Acedemy and Environmental Studies Academy. Stop on by and pay us a visit. We would love to show you what we are doing.

I think that Wilson High School is a good school. The teachers do go alot out of the way to help students. Teachers have a limited amount of resources. The school is in need with some updated books. The schools test scores might be kind of low but that doesn't mean the students are not capable of high potential. I think another problem with the school is overcrowding, other schools send their misbehaving kids there but I don't see how that solves a problem, it just causes more disruption in the day.

I recently graduated from Woodrow Wilson High school in 2003. I was a part of the Administration of Law Magnet at this school. We had a classroom that was a real courtroom. In this classroom we had Mocktrail competitions against other schools. We even had a competition in a real court building in Downtown Los Angeles. The teachers are excellent and the Administration also.

Their are many outstanding teachers at Wilson High School. Although, the school does not do as well as many other schools on standerdized tests, the school has character. It has drastically improved over the many years. I would like to acknowledge the Administration of Justice & Law Magnet for its well developed curriculum.

Wilson in general is an okay school. Teachers exceed beyond what is required and use their time to help the students. Like many other schools, Wilson has both good and bad teachers. Wilson provides a vigourous and well developed education, offering many hard and challenging AP courses. This school is in need of updated text books. My child a graduate of Wilson now attends Colombia University and is very sucessful.

I am a proud Wilson Alumni Class of 2000! This is an excellent school. Like any other school there are great instructors and ones that are not as enthusiastic as others. Most of the experience and education is in the hands of those individuals that attend. Make the best of it and keep in mind the bigger picture. If a student is determined to succeed they will!

I graduated from Wilson in the 70's. I've seen a vast improvement in all areas. I am sending my children to Wilson. This school does not deserve the negative publicity that it has received. Come visit the school and see for yourself.

In my opinion this school administration is excellent in providing their students with the fullest education. Teachers in general go beyond their usual task to make a difference in the students life. Problems that I would consider is a bad factor for the school is the overcrowdedness, graffitti, security, and specially truants.

I was a student at Wilson for three years in the 80's and I always found the teachers to be very interested in the students that where there to learn....I think the over all problem with the school know is one thing: it is overcrowded.

It's not a good school. The administration only care about themselves and don't care about the students. They want to make themselves look good and make us look like the bad ones.
