Superior Street Elementary School Reviews

I love this school!!! my daughter has attended for 5 years now and loves it, she is in the sas program and has had an amazing education every year. My son has just entered his second year and also loves it! the school is very dedicated and caring, they keep up on everything and keep it fun for the kids while being very 'hands on' in the classrooms(which i find keeps kids interested more)! the parents are very involved, and you feel so welcome from the moment you enter the school!!!

This school is a great but the real gauge is my kid's love of this school , she had an amazing year in Kindergarten which is a great start for her, teachers and the Principal ( and she is very easy to approach and communicate with ) are very dedicated and caring, the PTA is very involved and dedicated, even the school volunteers and front desk girls are truly amazing. This is a real treasure in the Valley ( without a lot of hype ) and i think there's more great things to come.

Superior is an amazing school, with wonderful teachers, aides, admin staff, students & parents. The comments below made about the principle are unfair & not true. Mrs. Schubert speaks to you with respect & sincerity & she deeply cares about every child at the school. She is articulate with her speech yes, but that is not directed towards the parents in any condescending way; it's simply to lead by example. The kids here respect & look up to her so much, & she takes that responsibility very seriously. By her speaking the way she does, students learn correct pronunciation & intelligent speaking skills. Parents making unfair comments below should expand their minds a little bit and understand the principles true intentions. We had an amazing experience with Mrs. Thomas for Kinder & we re thrilled to be part of this school. The YMCA program here is top-notch too!

This school is great! The teachers are great, the office staff is great! I get a phone call as a reminder before events (and there are lots of them!) and I was shocked to discover that the amazing school website was done by volunteer parents, I though it was paid by the school budget! It is so well done! Parents are involved and it shows! High scores = caring staff and parents! And the scores are high. Creative kids staff are great too! Principal and V.Principal are both great! they work well together! PTA is great! I can go on and on... Well done! All of you!

How fortunate we are to have such a wonderful school in our neighborhood. I was so hesitant to send my daughter to public school in LAUSD, but wow, was I surprised. The staff and PTA at Superior are so dedicated and just amazing and all that dedication has made Superior a California Distinguished School!!

This was the first year my 5 and 7 yr old daughters attended Superior. They love the school and I enjoy the communication I have with both their Kindergarten and 2nd Grade teachers. The only complaint I have is with the principal. She does lack communication skills and she is a complete control freak (for lack of a better word). Other than for the Principal, whom I might admint does a great job in keeping the school above specs. We are so lucky to have our kids in what is now a California Distinguished School! Yeah!

I agree, My husband went to this school 22 years ago. So he wanted our son to go since we lived across the way. But the principal has very poor communication skills. She speaks to you like you are five. But the teachers so far are really great with the children. The Kindergarten teachers the best I have met.

I have never seen teachers that go above and beyond their call of duty. Not only are they involved during class time but you can see the concern even after classes. The PTA is amazing and the school has the greatest Parent Center ever. I have a third grader and a first grader and they love the school. Thank you to all the staff and parents who come up with ideas to help upbring good citizens and provide parental support.

Superior has a very good academic program. The Principal and the teachers are very dedicated. I have a son in 1st grade, he will be going to 2nd grade in Sep '07. They also have really good after school programs and or after school care programs. I highly recommend this school.

My daughter just graduated from kindergarten, and she had an excellent time this year. Ms. Feldman is an outstanding teacher, and the support from the administration was great. For being a Title 1 school (minority/free lunches), this school exceeded my expectations. The 'culmination' ceremony was really touching ! Creative Kids after care is well run, too.

My daughter has completed her second year of attending the Special Mix Pre-school at Superior. In the Fall she will be in Kindergarten. Due to a excellent staff and constant dedication, my daughter's speech has significantly improved. I reccommend any parents whose children have an IEP, to enroll them in this school. They will not be disappointed.

The most amazing teacher, staff, administrators and parent involvement in the San Fernando Valley.

As a mother of a kindergartener, I am very impressed with the dedication and passion of the parents, teachers, staff, and administrators. I recently got involved in PTA and other activities and was excited by the warm welcome I received from the school's 'veteran' parents. I look forward to sending my younger two kids there because I truly believe that even though their individual needs may be different, Superior will teach and nurture them to reach their full potential.

Superior Elementary is an excellent school. I have two kids that attend. A fifth grader and a second grader and next year I will have a first grader. Superior's academics keeps my kids challenged in every subject. The teachers are so caring and they push the kids to their maxium potential. The office personnel are wonderful and the principal is doing an excellent job.

This school challenges students to meet their full potential, it's well maintained, and the parents are very involved, which helps keep the school well organized and an eye out for anything that is needed. There are many fundraiser and parent involment programs.

My son is just about to complete kindergarden, this year has been absolutly the best to start off his educational career. The teachers are extremely caring and interested in the wellfare of the children. I wouldn't send my children to any other school in the area. They have art and music classes everyweek. They really try to keep the parents involved and informed about what is going on in the school. We are very excited about next year and can't wait to have another wonderful experience at this great school.

My older son went to Superior from 1st-4th grades. He never once had a teacher that didn't care. Most of the grade levels have terrific teachers. They have a SAS program that is wonderful. My son is a quick learner, so instead of letting him become bored they dove deeper into the supject matter that they were covering. My younger son now goes their and has the same first grade teacher. I feel very lucky and priviledged to be apart of Superior Elementary.

What a wonderful hidden treasure! The school is beautiful, well maintained, with new things being added all the time. Everyone is open and friendly. The administrators are wonderful, the teachers are great, parent support and student services are awesome, and the amount of involvement and focus on the children is insurmountable! This is definitely a public school [worth] looking into to send your child/children. Don't believe me? Call and ask to make a visit with your child, and see for yourself.

Our daughter, who is in first grade, just began attending Superior Street Elementary this year. We moved her from a private school just before the start of the 2002/3 school year and I must say we were a bit concerned. She did really well at the private school and we were afraid that we would be loosing a higher level of education by moving her. However, it turned out to be quite the opposite. She was placed into the first grade pre-advance studies class and is continuing to do very well. In fact, we have found that her studies here are well beyond what she was receiving in the private school. We have been more than impressed with the level of education and the dedication of the teachers and staff of Superior Street. Both my husband and myself are members of the PTSA and are regular attendees of the monthly meetings. All of the PTA board members, the principal and the school staff are working very hard to make this school a great place to be. Every one of them is dedicated to the children and to making things happen for them. It s wonderful to see all of this come together and it definitely shows in the children who go to school there. Now, I m not saying that things are perfect. But for the most part, this is a very good school. The parent involvement could be higher and there is controversy over teacher s methods, etc., but I believe that to be the case in any school. I would highly recommend this school to others. Be as involved as you possibly can .you learn a lot by doing so!
