Hart Street Elementary School Reviews

My daughter is in Pre-k and she really likes the school. I specially thank her teachers Miss Kile.

This school has some of the most qualified teachers. My kids have been there for over three years, and they dp very well inspite of thieir learning disabilites. The teachers here at Hart have high expectations, but reality taken into consideration will be honest, and say some of the tests and assessments encouraged by NCLB need to limit the pressure on teachers in special education classrooms. I coincide with the teachers. Our children learn but at a slower pace, and we should not rush our students, but rather focus on the conceptual and meaningful way of how this child may retain the information for life. Honestly, NCLB should take this part into account. Many of our students gen ed and spec ed. remember the details needed to pass a test and then forget it shortly thereafter. NCLB should consider the CBM and FBM of every state and incorporate oth every state.

My Son attended Kinder and now this year he is in 1st grade. No dought he is an oustand studen academic wise. and most of the credit goes to his Teacher Miss Collins and Miss Spulveda. A suggestion of improvement, the schools require a Academic Curriculam.. The teachers need to be more focused on whats the next suject or lesson.

My son has been attending Hart School for the last two years. The teachers he has had have been GREAT! I'm surprised to read negative comments about the Principal. She has always taken the time to speak to me and appears very approachable. I have had one very negative contact with an office staff member. I was appalled by the rude and insensitive behavior this staff member displayed towards my child. As parents we strive for perfection when it comes to our children, and staff members should be understanding of that need, especially if they are parents themselves. But one negative contact in two years surrounded by many positive ones is not a bad ratio. I also believe parents have as much responsibility in making the school there children attend better then it is. Parents should become more involved with children's school activities, including volunteer work at the school.

Both my children have had excellent teachers. The principal works dillegently to ensure a safe, clean, progressive campus. Enrichment programs have increased. School earned 'School for Advanced Studies' status recently.

The school has changed alot, and Im a new to the campus, but I hope that I am adding to making Hart St School a better place for parent, and most importantly students...I love it here, the students, teachers, office staff, and parent are great.

Hart Street has really helped my child. The office, the principal, the teachers are great. My child's teacher talks to me. My child is learning a lot.

I think there are some teachers who have the best interest of the students and some teachers who are just getting through their day. I agree with the comment one year ago, parents are not very welcomed by the office. Not so much by the office staff but by the Principal. The principal isn't very parent friendly and has limited customer service skills. The principal does not give the outgoing energy parents need to keep us involved. She also has poor follow up.

The academic program has improved dramatically over the past 8 years! If your child gets the right teacher, his/her education will be very good. However, there are a few teachers to avoid like the plague. Parents are not very welcomed by the office or administration but teachers and individual classrooms love to have involved parents! The academic rigor is high and there is good uniformity among grade level classes. Some classes participate in an arts cadre which is an opportunity to learn from specialists in visual arts, music, dance, and theatre. The school library is beautiful and the playground has new equipment for kindergarten classes and for upper grade classes. The LA's Best after school program helps with homework and provides other extracurricular opportunities. YS is also available after school though it is more limited in what it can provide.
