Susan Miller Dorsey Senior High School Reviews

I regret comeing to this school. The school is a bit cool, but the students and some of the teachers are really bad.

Susan Miller Dorsey High School is a very beautiful campus with a history of distinguished alumni. Call on the alums to remind the present student body of the proud traditions, high priority of academics, showcase of the arts and champions developed through athletics.dj

The school has dedicated teachers and staff members that help students through the college transition.

I am in leadership at Dorsey high school and the students are committed, the teachers are fabulous and the campus is beautiful. It's under renovation to be finished in 2010. Dorsey family is a great one to be a part of. Dorsey Pride!

I have found out that it is up to the parents, and the student, not the school. any school can be a learning environment, and any child at Dorsey can go to college, if they apply themselves and meet the requirements. parents have to be more proactive in their childen's educational pursuits. I am a mom of 3 college grads, who went to school in the inner city of los angeles, and I have a child there at dorsey, who has shown marked improvements, beause, he turned his situation around himself!

It's not a healthy environment for our kids. The staff members look unhappy, as a parent I don t recommend this school at all but we don t have choices in our communities .

I had been reluctant to send my son to Dorsey in 2003(9th grade)& waited until spring 2005 because like a lot of parents, I was concerned with the gang activity in the area and the ignorant attitude that my son wouldn't receive a quality education'in the hood'. Not only did I sell my son's intelligence short but also the excellent, caring teachers and supporting staff that give back.'A true learner will & can learn anywhere where knowledge exists. An educator will educate wherever & whenever they can' My son has thrived @ Dorsey! As an involved parent I visit the campus often and always feel welcomed.I have met some of the most genuine, intellegent and caring people(Staff) @ a school.I owe both the staff as well as my child an apology, for ever doubting the excellence our people have and do offer.

Great school. Great football! Great people!

My son is a 9th grader at Dorsey High, I was very hesitate to put in Dorsey, because of the area. My experience so far as been wonderful. The 9th grade office works really hard to help the kids. I wanted to meet with his teachers, and it took 4 days to set it up and have all of his teachers their at one time. He has great teachers and they really work hard to help the kids succeed. Since September I have seen great parent involvement. I am hoping that he eventually graduates from Dorsey. So far kudos for Susan Miller High.

Dorsey high school is terrific. I am very happy here and I will support dorsey all the way.

I would say that Dorsey is a good school for athletics and certain academic programs at the school are goo...but in general the faculty tend to act superior and treat the students like trash, and just try to hold back their success in general.

Dorsey High School is a great place. Althought the area is known for crime, the school provides a safe, diverse, and nurturing environment for its students. As a graduate, I would like to thank the faculty and staff for everything.

The school choir is great. The TruDonion Choir can sing songs by Handel and can perform songs by Ray Charles. The directors Ms. Marilyn Payne and Mr. R. Hines are doing a magnificent job. And the students are well-mannered. I am proud of the choir at Dorsey. They also just won a choral festival in Utah. Some people say that there is nothing good going on in the hood but the choir at Dorsey is something good. The youth are not only taught how to sing songs, but they are also taught music theory, composition, history and how to convey their own ideas in music. I am glad that I had a chance to experience the Dorsey TruDonion Choir.

The school has too many students per teacher ratio, also the physical plant is old and in need of updating, the secutiy at the location should also be increased.

I have two children at Dorsey and I've been disappointed through the years. Parent involvement is so low that your lucky to get five to six parents out at a meeting at a school that is over crowed.
