I am a proud parent of this school. and I think this school is great with excellent teachers.

I am a parent of one of the greatest child in the world and I am very proud to say that I am very happy to say that This school is the best!! I am very happy with his teacher 'Miss Santos' I could never ask for any thing more. He is getting the best education ever and the best environment I could ever hope for. Words can not explain how happy I am with how every thing is going. I attended this school myself and soo have my older children. The PTA staff and the volunteers are the best!! I have more to share but not enough time. that's how much I love this school and it's staff.

Student scores went down on the CST. No surprise considering the lack of leadership from the previous administrator. The new administrator is a positive addition to the school. She is a welcomed change.

I love the new administration at the school. They are reaching out to the parents, supporting the teachers and keeping the kids safe. The focus is on education and there is trust. Bravo!

Under the focused leadership of the Principal Dayton Heights has shown steady and significant student test score improvement over the last two and one half years. All members of the learning community are asked and skillfully encouraged to have high expectations and to always put effective student learning first while maintaining a safe nurturing environment. Look at the student academic scores. This school works.

Dayton Heights was once a wonderful school but now it is unsafe and everything done there is for show. The principal and assistant principal are not the quality necessary to creat a healthy environment. The teacher's no longer look happy. I'm going to pull my kids out of the school.

The kids at this school are happy now, not like it was before. I'm glad my son goes here.

I am a graduate of Dayton Heights and I cannot be more happy with the way the school has developed over the years. The principal and assistant principal are always very nice and welcoming whenever I talk with them. What I have personally noticed is that there is lack of parent involvement with their child's education. I see many parents brush off or ignore what teachers explain to them when they pick up their child(ren). It's disappointing to see that children cannot expand their knowledge in school mainly because parents do not take the time to help their kids at home with homework or reading skills. I am very involved with my son's schoolwork and he has the top grades in his class because of it. Learning starts at school and should continue at home. It's sad to see parents blame only the school when it is mainly in their hands.

It's disgusting to see parents complain about this great school. Staff is always friendly and nice. Scores are rising. Almost everyday I see teachers trying to tell certain parents that their son/daughter needs help with certain topics or they were misbehaving and the parents can care less. They either walk away mid-conversation or say OK and walk away. Poor kids who have parents like this.

I don't understand how the principal has a 4 star rating when I notice that all the kids are not allowed to play at the park during school hours because there isn't a park schedule. I asked my son and teacher and the answer I got was 'not sure' I asked when are they going to be able to play same answer 'Not sure'. I think this is a sad school for the kids, because the principal is so dysfunctional in her need to control everything that only some kids are allowed to play at the new park. This is what an excellent principal does? I think not. For sure next year I am moving my son to a different school. I hear that charter schools need kids. Maybe they'll treat my son better. Dayton Heights needs a professional, sane principal. Not the one it currently has.

As for the parents who actually pay attention and are somewhat involved its hard to not notice the way the principal favors certain teachers and students over others. Its sad to see the once happy school where many parents were involved now a sad and empty place. I can't wait for the options booklets to go home in December so that I can move my child to a better school that has a real desire to put childrens education first. I can see some parents and teachers trying to make this a better place but its obvious that the negative spreads around faster that anything good. This school doesn't even have an effective communication method with the parents. We get invited to sporadic workshops one day ahead of time...and even then they get the time wrong. Poor leadership skills...poor communications skills..and this is a great school?

Dayton Heights School is a positive learning environment with excellent standards. It has an administrative structure that reflects excellent quality and lead by its principal who reflects a genuine caring for the education of the students. The leadership reflects high standards and commitment to make the Dayton Heights learning environment truly effective and real to meet the educational needs and character building of the students. As a parent I am very confident in the skills and education of the faculty and leadership. The educational background and training of the principal, vice principal, and most of the faculty members are coming from doctorate and masteral levels of education. I know that my child is in a very effective quality learning environment.

I would not describe this as an excellent school but it's not horrible either. There are teachers that work hard here and really care about the school. They are what makes the school worthwhile and they really seem to be the ones driving the academic improvements here. It would be nice to see a really organized, effective and motivational principal at this school. The current principal is just ok. I think she works hard but she's just ok. Communication from the school has not been consistent this school year. Things seem disorganized. This is not a negative rant about the school and I am involved in my child's education but things could really improve at Dayton Heights.

I'll have to agree with the more postivie posts here. The principal of this school cares, GENUINELY cares about the well being of these children. No one is helping ANYTHING by posting negative rants on an internet website. If you want to help this school then help by supporting the adminstration. The administration needs your support and positivity to grow and I would like to go on the record saying that the principal of this school and extremely kind and easy to talk to. She has been incredibly helpful to many people I know personally and I support her one hundred percent.

it's really unfortunate that some people can't appreciate what an intelligent and caring principal this school has. no wonder the school can't keep a principal for more than a couple years! we need to support our school administration, not harass them. after all, they're the ones taking care of the school we send our children to.

The PTA here was disbanded by the principal. Not enough playground supervision. I do not feel welcome when I come to this school.

I recently moved to Los Angeles and enrolled my kids at Dayton Heights. I must say that in my experience dealing with the principal she was anything but 'combative and unresponsive.' She was very helpful and easy to talk to. I feel that the negative comment does a disservice to other parents and is completely the opposite of my experience. She is very compassionate and I feel great about my kids well-being. Thanks!

My person opinion on this school is very positive. I think Dayton Heights is a great school. I went to this school, my other sister went to this school, my brother went to this school and now my little sister goes there (she's going to be there last one in the family to attend Dayton Heights) This school offers good memories. The teachers and staff are exellent. This school is highly recommended!

Excellent learning environment. the staff are friendly and caring to children and parents. my children have had a positive experience in their entry to school. my children's teachers particularly Ms.Lang (first grade)and Mr. Wagner (Kinder) have provided the effective learning tools for my children to develop their reading, writing, and math skills. I commend their ability to promote a positive learning environment for their students. My child's kindergarten experience has enabled her to love reading, writing, and math at a very so much so that these skills are applied to her everyday life. These teachers are quality educators and should be recognized for their teaching skills, experience, and patience. the quality of their work is reflected by the attitude the children have about school.

This school is like a 2nd home where children are comfortable and feels safe. Apart from my above-average rating for the school and its personnel, I would like to give extra credit and commend Ms. Susan Malinowski for her outstanding teaching skills and strategies. Ms. Malinowski gives weekly performance report (in 3 categories) to parents on how their children are doing. This is a very useful tool to address issues which needs attention in a very timely manner. She effectively uses methods and techniques which facilitates learning and retention. Although, I have not actually observed how she conducts the class, I noticed at home that my child is applying and utilizing several techniques in making his homeworks and at times when we try to test him at home. Ms. Malinowski checks every single homework, exercises, and returns results which compensates for the child's and the parents' effort.
