Castelar Street Elementary School Reviews

The teachers at Castelar are caring and dedicated to ALL of their students. They work very hard to implement the district and state standards to enable their students to succeed. I admire my teacher friends at Castelar who spend tremendous energy and time in their jobs as teachers. They have told me that students are placed into classrooms based on language programs and needs.

My daughter went to Castelar from K through 5 and I am very pleased at the level and type of education she received. She is a well adjusted young lady and is now a straigh A student at The Marlborough School (one of he best private schools in CA). Thank you Castelar for providing an excellent foundation for my daughter.

Considering the ethnicity of the community (most students are english learners), it is one of the best school in the area. But I found unfairness in the administration. I found out that students that have parents work or volunteer in the school always get the best teacher. There are big gap between teachers' philosophy of teaching within the same grade level. One teacher will give tons of homework but the other will be just couple pages. If you request to change teacher because you think a certain will work great with your child, the request is hopeless. The principal does not like to listen to the request. He and the staff would tell you to put in the request and next thing you know, it disappeared into thin air. This happen to us last year.

I went here for my elementary years the education was above what any parent would expect. This is a great school I feel it would serve excellence to the community of Los Angele.

The academic programs are excellent, and as reguards to their music, art, sports, and other extracurricular activities are the best that my children have experinced. I have seen first hand great and rapid development in both of my children, I would recommend castelar elementary to every parent who's focus in education are the of the above. Because of the small community parent involvent is in a much more personal involvment, and to me that is very much important because that assures me that my child is being taught properly on a more one on one basis. If you would like yuour children to experience excellent academic programs, availability of music, art, sports and other extracurricular activities, and parent involvement, I urge you to take catelar elemantary into concideration.

Students are treated like robots. They are not encouraged to think outside the box. Beware of teachers who disrespect and gossip about parents as well.

Very excellent school with a high API score. Teachers are dedicated and the students are marvelous. The principal is very inviting and the staff members are all very courteous and kind. The students are awesome and are truly one of the best.

As a former student at this school, I know firsthand that the education I received was far beyond that of other schools I have transferred to. In fact, at Castelar I would barely be an 'above average' student whereas when I transferred, I was placed at the top of my classes in both Mathematics & English. The English classes were just as educational as they were fun and we emphasized much of our learning on our language skills (seeing as how many students were/are learning English as a second language).
