Audubon Middle School Reviews

This school has great potential just not the highly trained staff to help reach it.....There is of course the occasional teacher that is outstanding and the students love because they really care....This school has great materials and a great plan that just needs to be put into play. Some of the kids are really dedicated and some others are influence too easily and are unruly. Im a student and this will be my eight grade year here at audubon and i recomend to inroll your child here but only if they are there for the academics and are their own person. I think that being at this school has led me to want to be independent. But i dont let people get in my way.....No body interupts my studies. Because i know how to keep people in check. But as always the desicion is up to you.

Audubon is a good school i just wish they stop the uniform policy that's not good

Audubon middle school iz active and all teachers are the BEST!!!

this school was a pain. The learning is great, but the people is just what ruined it. I went there for a year, and switched to a better rated school; their learning was very far behind.

I've only been at audubon for a little bit but it's a relly nice school there are some rude kids but if you're in magnet or s.A.S most of the kids are really nice the teachers are really envolved in teaching an care about the students. The school is go[o]d it's just certain people who make it bad

Its a good school but the students are very bad

Mnay people say this is a bad school and it is- kinda. Some of the students are unruly and down right obnoxious, but you will still find those who are dedicated in their studies. Some people may say that the teachers are nice and what not but there are some who just don't care. On one occasion a male teacher yelled at his students and suspended them for no good reason. You are making a good desision on entering the magnet program but beware of those teachers who like to pick on their students!

People think this school is bad but its not its the certain kids that makes bad choices. Theres no real bullying, or any thing like that. Audubon has a great dance teacher Ms.Morris and when i moved to Sacramento and went inot a dance class i really appreciated Ms. Morris because she taught alot of Vocabulary and i would get mad because i thought it was unnessary but i reliazed how nessary it was. I loved Audubon and the school can be great if the kids made better choices. Chaterra!

I graduated last year and the teachers are really wonderful. I learned alot and read many of the classics in Ms. Mays class. The field trips were great and the kids that wanted to learn really applied themselves. What we needed was more Parents checking on their kids seeing if they were taking care of business.

i am a student who will be walking the stage this year. this school is a bad school to send your children. The teachers are nice and kind but it is the kids who mess up the learning in class. In some classes kids would throw paper balls, pens, and pencils. Some teachers put effort in the teaching process well doing power points. This school has to be one of the baddest schools!!

Audubon Middle School Most Likely the worst School I Have attended in my life. I Spent 6 months in that school and hating every moment of it. Students are always at a constant fear for their safety and the only mediocre class is the magnet class but even that is not enough to make this school pass off as a decent school. I Would Personally Never Attend this school.

I am a student at Audubon Middle School and I admit this is not the best school around. But I think the teacher are very nice.I can't blame anyone for not liking this school.

Audubon Middle School would not be my first choice for any male student. They face plenty of gang issues, bullying, etc. The Dean really didn't want to be bothered with the kids or parents. I was shocked. Most of the staff had the 'I don't care attitude 100%'. The school looks ran down and they don't offer many activities. Some of the teachers treat all the kids the same so if there were a few bad apples in a class then they were all bad. It was not a good experience for my son. Aside from a few counselors no one seem to care for the kids and that was so very sad. My son was constantly bullied, or they begged for his lunch money. If you have another choice don't pick this one for a male student.

I'm an Audubon student in the advanced magnet program and I feel that its necessary that I express how poorly the school takes care of itself! There are very few extracurricular activities. They don't give the students or parents any information on how to join these activities. The school is also extremely filthy! There's gum, food wrappers, papers, and even the paper lunch trays all over the campus. Fights are frequent. One good thing about the school however is that the teachers are very kind and dedicated to the students education. They are constantly trying to help students be the best they can be.

This school is very good. People may think it has a bad reputation, though, it does. Audubon is well handled by the staff and has a lot of school spirit. The children there are not as bad as people may think considering no one there is over 15. The magnet program is great for kids who are above grade level and has many nice teachers included in that. 2007

This school is so far the best. Better than any other school.

I am a graduate of Audubon Middle School and Magnet Center and I am highly disappointed in the reputation that this school recieves.I graduated from the Magnet Program and it was a wonderful experience. I miss everything about it. I had relationships with the teachers that made me feel comfortable about my concerns with my work and asking questions to help me understand what I was being taught. As far as the kids that attend there, they are just like any normal child you'd find in a private school. They have morals, goals, and dreams and try to work had at them. Yes, a few of them fall behind but who doesn't at one point in their lives?

I am a student who attends Audubon middle school right now and to tell you the truth Audubon isn't all that bad. people hype up Audubon to be this oh so bad school, and its not. I know from experience because I've been there since the 6th grade an its ok. Ihey have some extracurricular activities there and our principle is doing things to better us and our school. They reward students with good behavior all the time, and they teach the students who do wrong how to better themselves. So take advice from a student who goes there and know it's not as bad as people say it is

Parents beware! This school is scary. The kid's behavior at best is subdued and at worst borders on criminal - just speaking from the regular school. I have no idea how the magnet program is. Overall though its worth your money and your child's state of mind to put him/her in a private school.

My daughter just started sixth grade at Audubon in the Gifted Magnet program and I am very satisfied with the curriculum. The teachers seem to be involved and the curriculum is both interesting and challenging. I agree with the other parent comments regarding the rest of the school as it does seem as those children do not receive the same attention. There could definitely be improvement with the extra curricular activities, but there is a great after school program LA Bridges that offers Art classes, tutoring, field trips etc.

My daughter recently graduate from this school and her experiences were mixed. She loved the gifted program because the teachers were good and the student were nice. She hated the regular school because the kids were rude and unfriendly

The quality of the academic programs is low. There is 1 music class and 1 art class, there is other activities that students actually get involved in such as drill team, foot ball, and basketball. Also parents should get very much more involved in the school including my own.

I felt that Audubon was a major health and safety hazard. My son was constantly under stress from his peers because of his grades.

Audubon is in the process of reorganization. The principal is an effective instructional leader and I have great hopes that Audubon is making great strides. UCLA is working with Audubon to provide resources for teachers and increase parent involvement.

There is not visible leadership and help available to the parents at the school. The office staff are very confused and not willing to help. The phone system is lousy. You can never get through to anyone for help when you need it or even a telephone call back when you leave a message. Everyone seem to be busy doing nothing. Just standing around and chating with each other. If this was not my childs last year there I would definately check her out into another school. It is just a horrible situation.

My daughter is in Audubon's Gifted Magnet. The magnet teachers are all great. Everything about the magnet program is fine..BUT the other 2000 kids in the regular school are really suffering. I have never been to the school when I didn't see school police arresting some kids for fighting. Over 80% of the kids are failing or below grade level. The principal doesn't seem to do much about it.

I have interacted with staff and teachers and I believe the school is going through tremendous transitions. With the new principal I feel we will turn this situation around. I look forward to watching changes happen.

This school is not a viable option for parents looking for a good educational experience for their child. It consistently has not met the minimum standards prescribed the state and/or Federal government. Because of lack of support for public education in this country, schools like Audobon have been relegated to holding tanks for the low-income, uneducated families in surrounding communities while those who can afford it opt out to the parochial or private school system. It is a shame.

My daughter attends Audubon Middle and I have to say that I am very dissatisfied with the way the school functions. Since my daughter has been attending there for her first semester, her overall motivation for going to school has droped dramatically. She had always been a A/B student, but her grades are falling because the teachers don't seem to be concerned enough to answer additional questions she has about her class work or send home examples that would be a helpful guideline to use a home. This is the only public middle school in our area as to why she even attends. They have a good gifted magnet program, but it functions separately from the rest of the school. If the entire school was to be on the same guidelines as the magnet program, then the students there really would get a good education. This is not my 1st experience this school either I have had two other children to suffer miserably over at Audubon. So if you can put your child in another school with higher standards for learning, please do so. I am currently seeking other resources as well.

My daughter has been attending Audubon MS for 2, half years. She has been fortunate enough to be in the Gifted Magnet program. Without this program I'm not sure where the school would be. They need to have the entire school functioning under the guidelines of the Gifted/SAS programs.

My daughter was a 2003 graduate at Audubon Middle School and I was not satisfied with the safety and decipline. The Magnet teachers were great but all the principal needs to be more of a leader.

i think that they need to take more time out to see what the kids need the most help in insead of just teaching and not listening to the kids when uestion are being asked.
