R. L. Stevenson Elementary School Reviews

I am a very active mom and my children are very smart kids. I am a little upset at the effort we all put into only to see little results... if any. The principal and the teachers aren't good communicators. My daughter came from a very good distinguished school last year, in the gifted program. No one seem to care about that here. Her grades have gone down. Not because she isn't smart but the teachers are not prepared and are not effectively doing their jobs. I had to take my daughter to a private tutor. when they gave her an assessment she was above average! The teachers are too big on disciplining already good children and not big enough on TEACHING . I could be donating the money I have to pay the tutor to the school.

So far I love this school and my son seems to really enjoy it.

I cannot say enough for this school. The principal especially. The principal and staff members out-shine all other schools in the Burbank district. Consistant involvement with students and parents. A wonderful experience for my daughter. I would highly recommend this school.

Stevenson is a gift to public education. Not only is the entire Burbank Unified School District one of the best Public School districts I have seen, my children have received superior education at Stevenson. Academic education is carefully presented, given special consideration to those students that require additional time. However, the peacebuilder program has helped to nurture responsibilty on the playground as well. As a public school teacher in a neighboring district, I would be concerned to have my own children at the school where I teach. I am completely confident in this school. It is wonderful!

Stevenson is a wonderful school! As a member of the community for more than a decade, I can whole-heartedly report that the school is clean, well-maintained, has a wonderful, huge playground, and is such a welcoming environment! Stevenson has had top-notch principals for years, and the current one continues that tradition! The teachers are energetic, caring, and really try to balance the requirements of the state with the reality of kids and how they learn. All kids, with support at home, excel! The PTA and FFS are fantastic organizations that give there all for to the school. There is a true 'team effort' between all the staff and the community. Last, but certainly not least, the office staff are the most professional, kind, knowledgeable I have ever met. Stevenson school is the best!

Stevenson School has alot to offer in the calss room, how ever theres a few teachers who need [to] learn how to comunicate better with our kids weather they are in the class room or outside. Remember the Kids come first!

Stevenson has a great team of teachers

My kids have been a Stevenson for a few years now and there have been many positve changes in that time. We have a Booster club that raises thousands of dollars so our kids can have art in the classroom and we recently became a CA Distinguised School!

My sons have both been at Stevenson since Kindergarten. Now they are in 4th and 1st grade. I am so happy with this school. We have a very involved PTA and FFS (Families For Stevenson) who makes things like art and music happen in a district that doesn't have funding for that. Our teachers are wonderful, and actually seem to enjoy what they do and create warm nurturing relationships with the kids. We have a wonderful 'PeaceBuilders' policy which encourages peaceful resolutions, respect for self, and respect for others. I could not be happier with my childrens Elementary experience so far.

A very nice school with lots of opportunity for parent involvement

Nice music and art program

My daughter came home and told me she had been on the computer at school on her first day of kindergarden. Now that she is in first grade she participates in an after school dance program at the school. Security is excellent, the only way in for visitors is through the school office. And the kids are supervised at pick up time. There is also a valet serivce staffed by the fifth graders in the morning. You can drop your child at the curb and they will walk the younger kids to their class rooms. The teachers are excellent. We have had a completely possitive experience with this school.

I am a parent.Great school, could do a little better on the academics; Very good amount of extracurricular activities and all round development. Parent involvement is very good. Very safe environment and situated in one of the best neighbourhoods in LA county. Friendly and co operative staff.Highly recommend it.

Great school, lots of events and activities for families. Good teachers, but not very good with problem children...

Several of the teachers there were outstanding especially your female 3rd grade teacher whose name escapes my mind at the moment. I always thought your requests for contributions were reasonable, for example I always joined the PTA but unfortunately we moved to a richer area and they want $40 just for the PTA never mind all the other things I have to buy. I put out $200 registering my daughter today. I think the Burbank School District really puts the money they do receive too good use, I just wish there was more parent involvement. I remembering going to Back to School Nights or Open Houses and you were lucky is half the parents showed up.

This school tries hard, but the results are rather average (which for a school in California isn't very good). The school is attractive, especially the playground (for the area). The parental involvement is pretty good.

The majority of the teachers at Stevenson are excellent, caring and wonderful educators that help the parents to learn along with their children. The front office staff makes all the difference to the community feel that this school has. Even the custodian is involved in making the day better for the students. Parent involvement is encouraged in most classrooms and that has made school a great place to be for many families.
