Hawthorne Elementary School Reviews

We are very impressed with the teacher quality at Hawthorne School. The teachers are engaged and caring. The front office staff is friendly. The music teacher is fantastic. Our children are very happy.

I like this school, Staffs, teachers, parents and students they all like a family.

This school is awful. The children use foul language, which is overseen by the staff. There is little to no interaction from teachers to parents and I would never recommend this school from 3rd grade on up.

i think the school is good and i really like my daughters kindergarden teacher, and my daughter likes her too.

My son finished 7th grade this past year and he has had a wonderful experience at Hawthorne. His English, science, and social studies teachers were terrific. In particular, his math teacher was awesome! Mr. Schmidt could really relate to the kids and turned a child from hating math to loving it. Thank you, Mr. Schmidt!!!

The preschool program is very structured and well provisioned. The barbecues are fun. The snacks nutritious and the kids are in a secure enviorment.

The Principal, Assistant Principal and teachers are all top notch. I am very happy with the quality of education my kids are receiving. There is a happy feeling about the school, which was not the case at the LAUSD school we were at before. Unfortunately, Beverly Hills schools do not have the full STAR onsite program. After seeing the joy & comeraderie that this program brings the kids in LAUSD, and the convenience for parents - we really miss it.

Quality of academic programs - average. Music - available. Art, sports not available. Level of parent involvement - average.

This school is improving steadily. We have an amazing Principal and Asst. Principal who work incredibly hard to raise morale, maintain a solid teaching staff and work with their resources. Parent participation should be better, but I believe as the school improves, more of the neighborhood parents will choose to send their kids.
