Cerritos High School Reviews

Cerritos is truly the most ideal high school. Although some teachers can be boring, overall all the teachers are great and very very very helpful when the student is troubled.MUN is the best experience a student can have and MUN has truly accelerated my public speeaking and writing skills beyond what i expected. Moreover, the relationship that you build with teachers (especially MUN teachers) are truly unique on this campus. All the counselors respect are extremely helpful, not just academically but also on a personal level. they treat students like friends and always meeting the needs of students and do things that best benefits the students. Althought atheletically, CHS is average, academically it is a really competitive environment with mostly great and respectful kids. i would recommend any parent this school.

I love CHS. It's a very tight knit school, and the programs and classes are wonderful. Mun has helped my speaking skills, and I'm proud to be a part of it.

Cerritos High is an amazing school. It's MUN program is one of the best in the nation; it has won many league championships in a variety of sports; the teachers are experienced and caring; the environment is diverse and spirited. Even as I transferred from CHS to another school, my teachers and counselor still care about me and help me whenever I ask through email. CHS completes the high school experience and even goes beyond. All events are well-organized and enjoyable. The students are highly ambitious and motivated, and the staff encourages them to accomplish more than just schoolwork. CHS makes you feel like you never want to graduate.

There are a handfull of good teachers in this school. The AP teachers tend to be much better than the regular teachers. They actually teach rather than give out busy work

I was disappointed with the teacher quality, extra-curricular activity, and counselor leadership. My son was transferred from one class to another without any explanation or concern from his counselor. My son never met his counselor, even though I requested he counsel my son regarding his class reassignment. The school is not concerned with sports activities. Some of the teachers are concerned. The school does not meet the needs of all students.

Well rounded school offering many opportunities for students to find their talents. Safe environment and caring administration. A great place for teenagers to mature. We felt like we got a private school education in a public school.

We have been very pleased with Cerritos High. Almost all teachers have been excellent and I have been very impressed with their counselors. Our experience is that they really listen to the students' and parents' and follow through. Our daughter's counselor, specifically, has always been there to meet her needs after listening - not just promote the counselor's own 'agenda' or perspective. She has also done well in facilitating student, teacher, parent issues/discussions. The only area where we've seen some need for improvement was the monitoring of school clubs. When our daughter signed up for some clubs it appeared that communication was weak regarding meetings, etc. in the clubs she was involved in. She soon lost interest as a new student with the clubs.

I believe that Cerritos High School isn't great. The teachers are good, but the administration and athletic department is terrible.

I plan to move back to Cerritos simply because of how nice the community is, the school is definitely diverse. More so than most cities in and around the Los Angeles/OC Counties. Teachers are friendly, and most are helpful. Campus is large enough to give students mobility to move around, yet feel safe to roam freely on school grounds.

Cerritos High School offers excellent academics and great extracurricular activities. Cerritos has a great music program, one of the best in California, and a very competitive sports program. Pride among the students is great, which creates a fun atmosphere. Despite it's lack of diversity, Cerritos serves as a second home to many culturally aware students. The students are some of the brightest around the city. Compared persistently to Whitney High School, Cerritos is just as good academically. However, Cerritos offers more activities including several sports, clubs, and a drumline. Overall, Cerritos is one of the best schools in ABC Unified School District.

Not a very diverse school and a very boring crowd.

Academic programs are quite good and varied, athletic programs are mediocre. Parental involvement is not as good as it should be.

Excellent academic programs. Teachers are caring and well rounded.

Pretty good overall, although Whitney high school is far superior from an academic standpoint.

The school is not very diverse.

Very happy with the academic level of school. Can be very competitive. Large population of Korean students.

It is one of the best schools in Cerritos. There are a variety of extracurricular activites in this school. There about a total of 2400 students in this school, so it's pretty much filled up. This school has no space for students whose parents don't live in this area. So, basically it's a competitive school to get into.

Lots of opportunities for a student wanting to be successful in life.

The best high school in the district. My daughter went there for 4 years and truly benefited. She's now enrolled at a top UC school for the fall. Good programs, excellent teachers, great people.

Great school. Great teachers.

I think this is a great school. The teachers are great, supportive, and highly motivational. The schools provide terrific programs ranging from sports to club activities. They also have one of the top speech and debate (Model United Nations) program that I feel are intergral for all students. The CHS MUN program is among the top of Southern California. It gives students a terrific opportunity to gain invaluable public speaking skills, exposure to politics, and leadership advancement. There are just too good things to say about CHS. The staff is great and extremely helpful there as well.

Despite high test scores, the negative peer pressure among the Asian students can be quite high ranging from smoking, to excessive measures of dress to afterschool/mid-weekend car racing. It's difficult to send a child to this school and not have parental competition via peer-pressure from many of the Asian students here. Perhaps this problem may be alleviated by integrating the school with other groups, but it would help if the school brought awareness to the students of the superficial social atmosphere on this campus.

This school is by far a great school. However, it lacks the ability of letting kids be more free. The rules are strict, which might be a plus, however, it interfers with kids way of being themselves.

Simply The Best School Ever..Excellent Sports..And Clubs...If only I went here when I was in High School....My Son loves it...Love The Special Ed Program
