First Lutheran School Reviews

We had such a wonderful experience. My child completed kindergarten this year. Very small class size with lots of individual attention. My child was reading in less than two months. The class completed the Kindergarten curriculum early and moved on to 1st grade curriculum. This is a very loving and friendly environment. Older children are kind and respectful of the younger children. The small school size is wonderful and provides children with lots of personal attention. I also love that my child was taught and influenced by loving Christian teachers that place a strong emphasis on character, respect and personal spiritual growth.

We where not happy, the school is much too small to offer proper social interaction for kids. We were unsatisfied with a few staff members. We now have our child in a Burbank Public School and they are wonderful offering not only much better curriculum but the core values a Christian family expects.

This school has a phenomenal staff who truly cares about the success of their students. As a former student of the school I received an amazing education at this elementary school. I am now attending a private college with an academic scholarship. Some of the staff members that were there during my education are still teaching and the newer additions to the staff have been excellent. What this school really needs are parents who care about their child's education and are willing to be involved in the activities of the school. This is a great school! Send your child here for a great education and watch them grow into successful students!

My child has attended this school since kindergarten and is now in the 5th grade. He has had excellent teachers and he rated 92% nationally on the Iowa test score. He has learned the computer and is able to do his own papers for projects, he learns Spanish as do all the classes, they have field trips each month that relates to the work that is being done at the moment. The school is small but mighty as the students work well with each other and uphold each other. The teachers learn each student and find what help them excel to their abilities. Overall, I am so glad that my student have had the chance to grow and learn in such a wonderful environment.

First Lutheran has a lot to offer for a small school. First of all the staff is friendly and very dedicated to their job of educating the students and caring for them. They strive to bring out the best in each student. The curriculum they use is top notch and meets the state's standards and the test scores are at or above grade level. Besides what goes on in the classroom they teach computers, music and spanish to all grades. Then for additional fees they offer dance and karate. Finally the children learn of God's love and forgiveness every day and are encouraged to act out in a Christian way.

This school use to be a wonderful place. WIth changes in the staff and administration it has really gone down hill. The size of the school body is shrinking, and a few of the staff members are not doing a great job teaching. Not many parents help in the school, and many of the children seem to be behind in their grade level

Excellent! Affordable! My daughter attended Kindegarten last year and the teacher's many years of experience and teaching skills made each student accomplish much more than the parents expected. I wanted a small class size with a lot of individual attention where each child is encouraged to learn, explore, and communicate in a controlled environment. The emphasis of the school is always on the academics which was always the backdrop to whatever they were learning. Music and lyric memorization, combined with reading, stories, and number games produced children who could read well before the school year ended. Discipline, clear expectations of student and their parent(s), character/self-esteem building, and fun and fellowship, are the hallmarks of this school. There is a library on campus where each student is encouraged to read non-school related books. Dance, piano, and choir are optional activities. More parent involvement, social actitivities, and school spirit are needed.
