St. Charles Borromeo School Reviews

They really allow students to get to know each other by having school 'families' made of students from a variety of grades.

Go the school, meet the teachers and staff. You owe it to yourself and your child. My son is blossoming at this school and I couldn't be happier. The facility may not be as 'pretty' as other schools, but the environment is truly nurturing and loving and the education is first-rate.

A coworker and parent of another very expensive private school recommended St Charels Borromeo. The teachers, after school program, principal, and the office team are excellent and work well together to guide your child. Children are well behaved and not rotten spoiled.

As a parent of a lower grade student at St. Charles, I have been extremely happy so far with the curricular, the staff and the overall environment. The children are respectful of eachother and it is refreshing to see NICE manners in kids that range in age from K - 8. The faculty is young, energetic and obviously tuned into their students. As a parent, the opportunities to help at the school are great and I enjoy spending time outside of the pick-up & drop-off times to see how things run - and how the students interact with each other & the staff. I completely disagree with the last posting about the principal. I find her to be very receptive and open minded and feel she is quite capable of her position. I reccommend this school if you want your child to experience quality in a smaller atmosphere. Thank you!

This school appears to be a nice school, but the principal is very cold and non-caring. There is preferential treatment given to certain families, especially the large familes and children that are the 'stars' of the school. Many of the teachers should definitely not be working with children. Sorry that my child went to this school for 3 years. This school ruined my child academically.

My daughter is in the 3rd grade now and has attended this school since kindergarten. She has had excellent teachers each year. The school has done a number of improvements every year, including adding a grass play area and trees. My daughter enjoys the after school chess club and band. I love the fact that it is a small school where not only do all the teachers know my kids but the kids from grades K to 8 also know each other very well. It feels like a real community.

St. Charles is a wonderful school. There are many opportunuties for students to particpate in extra-curricular activities such as sports, art, band, drama, and chess. We have been here a while and the principal is great! She's - quiet and low key and sincerely listens to what parents have to say. The teachers are terrific, some of the best! The other staff, are also wonderful. Everone cares for my children. The class sizes are kept low, most under 30 per class. It's truly a Catholic school who puts students first! It seems that this may not be the school for everyone, but that's ok since it's great for us! I recommend parents check out the school for themselves and not rely only on what the comments say!

St. Charles Borromeo has been such a blessing to our family. Our son is now in the 1st grade and we have the most wonderful teacher. She is one of the most outstanding teachers we have ever met. She has discpline in the classroom and our son has the outmost respect for he and he loves learning from her. We are so happy that we moved our son to this school.

This used to be a great school but now needs help. Principal lacks leadership, denies most problems and ignores parent's concerns. There are some great teachers, some should not be working with children. Overcrowded classrooms keep getting bigger. Certain families and children are given special privileges. PE is less than marginal. Check your other options before enrolling here.

This is a great school. It's my daughter's second year and she loves it (and that makes us pretty happy). It is truly unbelievable how much they learn each day. I don't know how they plan all the activities each month which almost always includes the parents and extended families. Her teachers have made themselves available for any questions or concerns we have throughout the year. We hope to keep our children (one on the way) there through 8th. Honestly, you get what you put in, so we're as involved as we can be. I know the children there are treated with love, support, and respect and that does not happen at every school. We couldn't have made a better choice!

The physical education program is marginal. So all in all, you may to check out the other Catholic schools in the area.

I had to pull my kid out. Resources are lacking, leadership is lacking, too much religion, not enough extracurriculars. Too bad.

I went to this school for 8 years and at first it was a wonderful school but after the new principal came the school went downhill. But if your looking for a sports school this could the school for you.

This school use to be a good school but since this principal has taken over it has really gone down hill. The principal has a difficult time making decisions and lacks the leadership that it takes in running a school. The students education is awful and is suffering because the teachers lack what it takes to teach and are not interested in going the extra mile. Lots of favoritism with the children and faculty.

This school is absolutely dreadful. If I could do it all over again my children would not have attending this school. Please do your children a huge service and consider other catholic schools in the neighborhood.

My child has been going to St. Charles for 4 years now and love it! I we love the fact that most of the staff know my child by name. The only thing that I think the can work on is the extra curricular activity for the kids, the are not allowed to join the sports teams until they are in 5th grade and the Christmas show every year is pretty much the same, so maybe getting some parents involved in helping with the show, maybe add some dance routines or a bit more theatrical. Just a thought. The academic program is pretty good they offer spanish class which living in LA is a big bouns!

I'm overall happy with the school but I feel there are changes that can and should be made.

A truly wonderful school with a community feel. Education is top-notch, extracurricular activities are strong.

This school has just added music, art and drama to its curriculum. So far so good. They have a sports program for both girls and boys grades 4 and up, nothing for younger grades.

After grades 2-3, we pulled our daughter out of this school. Miserable principal leadership, miserable parental involvement. We feel she was robbed of 2 years of school.

GREAT School! The school administrator & nurse that have been with the school for a long time are awesome! They just finished renovation in the bathrooms and the school continues to improve. The only thing I wish is that they would have more extracurricular activities for the younger kids.

St. Charles used to be a good school. Today it's just a mediocre school when compared to some of the private schools in the area, but ok when you compare it to the local public schools. The principal is cold and aloof. Most of the best teachers have left over the last few years. If I had to do it all over again, I would not send my children here.

We are so happy with the quality of education that our daughters are receiving at St. Charles. The faculty and staff are always available to listen and if there are any problems they are addressed immediately. I wouldn't change sending my girls there for the world.
