Options for Youth-Burbank Charter School Reviews

Love this school! Have Attended for the rest of my years while working on HM. I might even graduate early! Thanks OFY!

I love this school. Just the fact that I can go at my own pace and not have to deal with teenage drama is the greatest thing ever! The staff is great as well. We get to go on field trips and everything a traditional school gets to do. There isn't really much of a down side to it.

I had a tough time during my last years of high school. I was expecting my first child and hadn't completed my education. There were so many times I wanted to quit school but for some reason my teacher kept calling, checking on me encouraging me to complete the course. I am so grateful to God for sending her into my life. She could've let me fall on the wayside but she kept on pestering me and I completed my education and passed with good grades thank you Options for Youth!

If not for Options, I never would've finished High School. Thanks to the fantastic teachers I was able to graduate in my expected year (2002) and get a diploma. This school does it's best to help students that public school has given up on or doesn't want to deal with, and encourages every student to strive to reach their goals. And though I was not in a regular public school, I still got a prom, a 'Grad Night' and a graduation ceremony. This school fills a void that so many students fall into and helps them lead productive lives that they might otherwise not have had access to, and I could not be more thankful that I was here. In regard to the review below me, I once asked the reason why the Home Study program closed, and I believe that the review is not an accurate representation of what happened.

OFY faltered when they aborted their home study program, yesteryear. Unfortunately, scores of 'former' students were left to fend for themselves. No alternate option is proximite and necessitates compromised effort to maintain a 'certified' overview for the student's welfare. If OFY flourished in any capacity, it was due their geographic location within the LAUSD boundaries. Sans a suitable alternative, any ancillary choice provides satellite involvement, only.

Charter Schools have, in my families experience, so much more to offer. I have children who have struggled with larger classes, and little feedback or class help. The charter school has made a huge difference in not only my child's academic development but his development as a person. He has gained a new respect for authority and for school, no matter how difficult. He gives 100% now. because he knows where he stands and what he must do to succeed. And he has the support from not just his family but his school as well. This has made a huge difference in his self esteem and that in turn has been a large part of the difference we have seen in him academically. Thank goodness for Charter Schools. Its what I feel all schools should be (are suppose to be).

This is an amazing school offering plenty of opportunities for students who have not been successful in a traditional school setting. Options has enabled several students to obtain a diploma when others schools had dismissed them. They do receive a diploma, not a GED and they are able to participate in a graduation ceremony with cap and gown.
