Pacoima Charter School Reviews

The school is very clean the teachers are very pleasant the students are all great. I m very happy that my child has had such a great experience at such early age in his life, it is very important that our children feel safe and happy in their surroundings.

This is a great school. Their scores continue to increase. There are many programs for school that include science, art and music. Students wear uniforms and there is a large number of parent involvement.

Great school. Turn around since they went Charter. Many more computers. Children are learning. Parents are happy. School looks nice and neat. Charter for this school was a positive note!

This school's parents are amazing. I have been meeting with many of them, whom recently graduated from a parenting program on campus. There is participation in morning and evening hours. The principals welcoming attitude towards working with parents, youth, service provider, lapd, and etc. has helped with moral and hope for a community that historically has many concerns.

This school is year round. It is multi track (4 tracks) Each track goes off twice a year for six weeks at a time. Maximum class size is actully 20 or less for K-3 and 26 or less for 4th and 5th. We have several afterschool programs, LA's best, 21st Century and Passport Voyager. Our teachers and support staff are required to have met NCLB requirements as of June 2006. Our textbooks and library books are continually renewed. We have an onsite, full-time behavior intervention specialist, a psychologist, a nurse and several resource service teachers. Parent involvement is a requirement, which is highly objected to by parents. We have a mandatory uniform policy with aid for families who economically cannot meet the requirement. All our children receive free meals. We have a parent center with numerous programs and classes. Our biggest obstacles: parental negativity and misguided, education hindering attempts.

I think this school needs better leadership. Our kids education is very important and to be successfull we must first put in place a system that will work to get parents more involved with the school. If not enough money is given to the school to purchase supplies, educational field trips, incentives etc... then you should do a fund raiser. I think this school needs to get together with other elementary schools that do good to see what are they doing different to improve these kids education. I also strongly recommend that the classes should not exceed more than 30 students, it gives the teacher a chance to communicate and teach better when classes are not over crowded. And last but not least I think this school should be year round and if not dont give to much time off of vacation, they seem to be more on vacation than school.
