Charles White Elementary School Reviews

Well, this is a school that really needs a strong principal. Someone who not only cares about the children but thinks outside the box in order to best benefit the students who might come from economicaly disadvantaged homes. The leadership at this school, as of late Spring 2005, is very poor, almost nonexistant. Though the teachers are hardworking and dedicated, they are young in the field and again, need strong and supportive leadership. This school has no leadership. It is a ship with no captain. I hope these wonderful children get the principal and VP they so need and deserve. They do however, receive lessons in Visual Arts, Dance, Music and Theatre and seem to thrive in those wonderful areas.

This school just opened early 2004 it is very nice compared to other schools in the area and is completely gated with only one main entrance into the entire school property. My daughter was fortunate to have an amazing teacher Mr. Valenzuela (who was her first male teacher)that really worked with her and other students on a one on one basis. They also use computers for research and many projects which is great. Her reading level advanced to an 8th grade level within months. The parent level involvement is average and I think need some improvement. They also have art, dance class and also have after school programs to help students with their homework along with after school sports. My main concern is outside safety because their is limited street parking the major streets (6th or Wilshire) for those who walk to school.
