North Valley Charter Academy Reviews

My daughter came to this school from another charter school that closed down. So far she seem s happy. There is a higher academic standard and accountability which I appreciate. The Special Ed Coordinator, Lynn, has been very accommodating and success oriented.

The school is very committed to serving hard-to-handle children who have been unwilling/unable to behave well in class. If your child has ADHD, past behavior problems, mild learning disabilities, you'll love it. If you have a bright child with good to average behavior, look elsewhere.

hello, i am an attending student of Nova and i love it, for the first time, i love to get up and go to school and i have ADHD, and being at nova helps me cope with it and its easier than ever. The best school i have ever been to , the teachers, the curriculum has helped me because you walk into a normal middle school and they dont offer what nova offers! -Megan Metz of the 7th grade of North Valley Charter Acacdemy. :))))

There has been a tremendous turnaround in the resources, leadership and staffing at this school The program is clearly aligned with the state standards, all the faculty from last year is returning other than one teacher who is not teaching anymore and the financial troubles are almost completely in the past. I am a parent continues to believe in this school and will continue to enroll my student here.

Imagine Academy was a great school for my son. He is a ADHD that 2 years ago was in need of good enviroment, small class size, adults with sincere care and good example for a teenager that was looking for more than a regular classroom can offer. That time the school was able to offer to him all what I was looking for to cover his special needs no only like a teen in search of help but understanding and real care. He learn a lot and he loves all the teachers. I'm so great that we found Imagine Academy. He likes the school so much that for me were that two years of eassy mornings and I remember that days with gratitude. Imagine was a good reality for me. Thank you to all the teachers and their good work that gave to my son and me something to remember.

2005-06 started with a new director and new teaching staff. On the bright side, there is a new director who seems to have common sence and higher teacher standards. I like the idea of charter schools and smaller classes and will hang on for a few more months.

This school has undergone some changes, but there are more changes to come. With a new Director, it has undergone a name change and receiving more monies to make it safer and better for students. I think it will be a much better school in the years to come.

I love Imagine Academy and everyone one there. Imagine Academy has made my son's life wonderful. My sons grades were terrible at his previsous school, but through all the hard work and the constant attention from the teachers he's acomplished wonderful work and excellant grades. I highly recommend this charter school to any parent that is looking for a smaller school.

My children were having a hard time in our local Public school. I enrolled them at Imagine Academy last year (2005-2006) and they are doing great. My daughter has straight A s in all of her classes. I know the school is struggling with financial difficulties due to the construction of new classrooms and the lack of parent s contributions but the staff is making an effort to overcome all those problems. If you are planning to enroll your child in this school, you can help by being involved. You can make a difference not only in your child's life but also in a lot of other children that are in need of their parent s attention. This is a great opportunity for those of you who dream of making a difference in this world.

Lacking Istruction in Algebra - teachers having difficulties controlling the population

I went for 2 years. The first year it ran smoothly but the next year the school went down the drain.

We are starting at Imagine Academy for the first time this year. The teachers seem committed, conscientious and genuinely curious about and interested in the individual students. So far so good!

Imagine Academy has been an excellent experience for my daughter. She was in 7th grade last year and did extremely well on the standardized tests as well as in the classroom. It was a difficult year, being the second in this charter schools life and many changes occurred. But she is excited about returning, has made close connections with her friends and although there are a number of new teachers this year the school has done a really good job of keeping parents in the loop and informed of the changes. I am very satisfied with the administrative and faculty support that I've seen and look forward to a very productive year. I'm especially happy, as is she, that the school is focusing on music this year as they focused on art last year.

In the school year 2005-2006, the school will having 95% new teaching staff; this exodus was largely due to the lack of support and leadership from the school principal and administration; most of the teachers chose to pursue jobs elsewhere. The school touts a 'democratic' approach, but because many of the students had learning and/or behavioral problems from previous schools, the 'democratic' approach turns into a free-for-all, with aggressive, disruptive students ruling the classroom and quieter and more passive students paying the price. Perhaps this educational model has merit, but the difficulties inherent in it were not ironed out as of last year.

This is an average school it's academic programs are not the best yet they are not the worst. Estracurricular activities are quite nice. HOwever the school has little parental involvment. Overall I would give this school an 85%
